About

Hi,

I’m Thorwald. I’m Dutch. I’m a marine engineer by education (about 4 years of seatime) but became an enterpreneur at 24 starting a Spanish language school in Costa Rica and later Panama. Also set up a boutique B&B in Panama and had a trawler “yacht”, a 121 ft. Dutch beam trawler, to be converted into an expedition yacht.

As I was working on that, Lehmann Brothers collapsed so that project was shelved.

After returning to the Netherlands in 2011 I worked on vessels again for a while, then had several jobs in technical maintenance management and then started my own business again in hospitality.

I’m selling that busines  now and plan to have an LRC58 built for circumnavigations.

Without doubt, the LRC58, designed by Dennis Harjamaa is the most economical way to do this. I’m not a sailing guy anyway.  I like the comfort of a closed wheelhouse and if I want to go from point A to B, I prefer a straight line..  And spending days in dolldrums, not my kind of thing.

The LRC58 can be tailored to one’s needs so I’m going for a parallel-hybrid solution and a lot of PV power.

One this website I plan to document the process of making the ultimate go-anywher explorer yacht that can take me to the most remote and beautiful places of our planet.
